  Election of Regional Focal Points

The Network undertakes election for the GEF-CSO Network RFP for the East Africa region as the term of the current RFP, Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement Bwaise Facility (EMLI) of Uganda will be completed on June 16, 2017.  Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement Bwaise Facility (EMLI) is eligible to stand for a second term but other organisations are welcome to nominate themselves for election. The list of countries which are currently included in the region is as follows: Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. 

Regional Focal Points play an important role in coordinating activities at regional level and facilitating input from the Regions into the policy making of GEF. Click here to view the role of RFP.  The election will be carried out in accordance to the Election Procedures for the Operation and Management of the GEF-CSO Network. The election will beoverseen by an "Election Task Force" set up under the Governance, Membership and the Elections Sub-Committee. The Call for Election was sent out to the region on 7 April 2017 announcing the election and the election process.  The Network is currenly seeking  self-nominations from organizations willing to stand for a four-year (48 months) term as Regional Focal Point in the region. The closing date for the nomination is on 28 April 2017.
